A power source can’t do any work unless how you know how to tap into it. In this web-based practice, students will need to hook up a machine that harnesses the energy of some basic power sources and turn it into something useful.
Kinetic City Information for Educators
Kinetic City Kinetic City is a collection of Science experiments, games, and projects for everyone to enjoy both online and away from the computer.
S.4.PS.3.2 Students who demonstrate understanding can make observations to provide evidence that energy is conserved as it is transferred and/or converted from one form to another.
MST4.E.PS4.2 Students observe the way one form of energy can be transformed into another form of energy present in common situations (e.g., mechanical to heat energy, mechanical to electrical energy, chemical to heat energy.)
MST4.E.PS5.1 Students describe the effects of common forces (pushes and pulls) on objects, such as those caused by gravity, magnetism, and mechanical forces.
MST4.I.PS4.1 Students describe the sources and identify the transformations of energy observed in everyday life.
MST5.E.TR2.4 Students use simple manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly, multiple stages of production, quality control) to produce a product.
