Objectives

Students will:

Description

This lesson is an overview on the use of commas. By the end of the lesson, students will learn when to use commas within text.

Duration

This lesson was designed to be use as Do Nows (10 minutes each) on reviewing commas in series, addresses, dates, letters and clauses and phrases.

It can also be used one period (45 minutes long)

Procedure

Slide 1: Rules for using commas in a series. Read the rule, review the examples, then for "Your turn" the students will come up to the SMART Board and touch and drag the commas to the appropriate place in the text.

Slide 2: Commas in addresses. Read the rule, review the examples, then for "Your turn" the students will come up to the SMART Board and touch and drag the commas to the appropriate place in the text.

Slide 3: Commas in dates. Read the rule, review the examples, then for "Your turn" the students will come up to the SMART Board and touch and drag the commas to the appropriate place in the text.

Slide 4: Commas in friendly letters. Read the rule, review the examples, then for "Your turn" the students will come up to the SMART Board and touch and drag the commas to the appropriate place in the text.
