SMART Notebook Pronouns Lesson
Step-by-Step Procedures
Using the SMART Notebook Pronoun Lesson: Follow Steps 1 - 10
- First slide: Students, with teacher guidance, will predict what pronouns are.
- Second slide: Students will write the definition of pronouns, after the teacher reads the definition and discusses.
- Third slide: Students and teacher read and discuss the Pronoun poem. Students locate pronouns in the poem.
- Fourth slide: Teacher discusses the chart - points out the singular and plural forms of the pronouns. Students copy chart into their notebooks.
- Fifth slide: Students and teacher read the poster and discuss.
- Sixth slide: Students identify the pronouns, by first reading the word, predict if it is a pronoun, then 'drag' the word to the pumpkin. If the word stays on the pumpkin, the word is a pronoun; if the word does not stay on the pumpkin, but goes behind it, the word is not a pronoun.
- Seventh slide: Each student will read a sentence and go to the SMART Board to circle the pronoun(s) in the sentence.
- Eighth slide: Students and teacher read and discuss the cartoon. Answer the question. Teacher can write student responses on the SMART Board.
- Ninth slide: Students and teacher read "Encounter" by Lilian Moore. Students will then do: circle the pronouns; draw a representation of the poem.
- Tenth slide: Students will use lined paper to write a descriptive paragraph about the picture. Students must use 4-8 pronouns.
Assessment
