Careers in the Arts

-focus on the variety of careers in the fine arts

 
(1) VA:Cn11.1.8a Through observation, infer information about the time, place, and culture in which a work of art or design was created.
(1) VA:Cn11.2.8a Identify and explore careers in which innovation and creative problem-solving skills are fundamental to success.
(1) VA:Cr1.1.8a Document and reflect on early stages of the creative process, visually and/or verbally in traditional or new media.
(1) VA:Cr1.2.8a Collaboratively shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life by using a contemporary practice of art and design.
(1) VA:Cr2.1.8a Experiment, innovate, and take risks to pursue ideas, forms, and meanings that emerge in the process of artmaking or designing.

How will I identify and use the elements and principles of art throughout a variety art careers?

How does learning about art affect how we perceive the world?

How can we connect our knowledge about careers in the arts to our everday life?

How will I explain the need and methods of a variety of art careers?

How will I create personal artwork for a variety of careers under the guidelines of fair use, appropriation artwork, and copyright laws?

Students will identify, evaluate, and use inspiration from careers in the arts to create  artwork. They will use different materials and techniques to give them a greater understanding of the topic.  

Medium, Commission, Entrepeneur

Writing: Arts Administrator, Arts Critic, Arts Historian, Arts Reseracher, Graphic Novel Author, Arts and Culture Writer, Art Curriculum Writer etc.

Graphic Design: Advertising, Logo/Brand, Social Media, Magazine Layout, Book Design, Packaging, Calendar, Stationary, Wallpaper, Banner, Typography, 

3D Design: Fabrication, Foundry, Industrial, Toy designer, Mock up artist, Set-Design, Ceramics, Pottery, Sculpture, Carver, Woodworker, Metalsmith, Jeweler

Fine Art: Illustrator, Archietecture, Cartoonist, Commercial Artist, Painter, Printmaker, Screen Printer, Court Room Illustrator, Art Conservationist, Art Handler, Mural Artist, Tattoo Artist.

Etc.

Projects (Summative): Students will be evaluated on completion of larger project. 

Critique (Reflection): Students will evaluate and critique their own, peers, and professional artwork.
