Exporation of Artists and Artistic Styles

-a deeper exploration of artistic styles and movements throughout history and today

(1) VA:Cn11.1.8a Through observation, infer information about the time, place, and culture in which a work of art or design was created.

How will I create artwork under the guidelines of fair use, appropriation artwork, and copyright laws?

Students will identify, evaluate, and use inspiration from famous artists and art movements to create  artwork. They will use different materials and techniques to give them a great understanding of the topic.  

Art Movements: Medieval Art, Rennaissance, Modernism, Contemporary, Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Art Nouveou, Cubism, Expressionism, Dada, Surrealism, Futurism, Art Deco, Constructivism, Abstract Expressionism, Kinetic Art, Symbolism, Found Objects

*Artists reveiwed will be chosen based on student interests and movements studied.

Classwork (Formative): Students will be evaluated on completion of different small classwork exercises to build their understanding and gauge their own learning progress.

Projects (Summative): Students will be evaluated on completion of larger project. 

Critique (Reflection): Students will evaluate and critique their own, peers, and professional artwork.
