The Ramp by PhET
Course, Subject
Mathematics, Physics, Math, Science & Technology
Grade Levels
Intermediate, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade
Description
This simulation will allow students to explore forces, energy and work as they push household objects up and down a ramp. Students will observe that as they lower and raise the ramp, the angle affects the parallel forces acting on the objects. A graph maps out the forces, energy, and work.
Using the simulation, students will:
- Explain the motion of an object on an incline plane by drawing free body diagrams.
- Calculate the net force on an object on an incline.
- Predict the various forces that act on various objects in a given situation.
