Description

This instructional video focuses on the traditional life of Native Americans and the change when white caused them to relocate.  This video also includes text descriptions on the topic as well as visuals.

HippoCampus

HippoCampus is a project of the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education (MITE). The goal of HippoCampus is to provide high-quality, multimedia content on general education subjects to high school and college students free of charge.

HippoCampus was designed as part of Open Education Resources (OER), a worldwide effort to improve access to quality education for everyone. HippoCampus content has been developed by some of the finest colleges and universities in the world and contributed to the National Repository of Online Courses (NROC), another MITE project. NROC makes editorial and engineering investment in the content to prepare it for distribution by HippoCampus. Both HippoCampus and NROC are supported by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

SS.11.1.a.1 Students will trace European contact with Native Americans including the Dutch, the English, the French and the Spanish.

SS.11.1.a.2 Students will examine the impact of European colonization on Native Americans who eventually lost much of their land and experienced a drastic decline in population through diseases and armed conflict.

SS.11.7.c For many Americans, the 1920s was a time of prosperity. However, underlying economic problems reflected by the stock market crash of 1929 led to the Great Depression. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s responses to the Great Depression increased the role of the federal government.

SS.11.7.c.3 Students will compare and contrast the responses of Presidents Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt to the Great Depression.
