As part of our yearlong e-pals project, students will learn more about the town they live in by taking a walking tour, photographing locations around town, and creating a Glogster poster to share with our e-pals.

Procedure
(this lesson is centered around our school's town, Morristown, but it can be done and adpated if needed to fit your school's community.)
Day 1
*Take a Google Earth trip to 408 Gouverneur Street, Morristown, NY to visit our school as it looks from above.
*Brainstorm ideas on a graphic organizer of "Life in Morristown".
*Include details about the geography and lifestyle (rural, water, Canadian border).
Day 2
*Using digital cameras, tour the Morristown area and snap photographs of the scenes in Morristown. Include the Main Street, park, museum, and any interesting geography.
*To make it easier for the kids to find their pictures, the IT department downloaded the images onto a flash drive with their name attached to each picture.
Day 3
*Preview the teacher's Glogster poster of Morristown, pointing out the title, pictures and captions used in the poster.
*Demonstrate steps in creating a Glogster Edu poster.
*Handout rubric for creating Glogster Edu poster and review expectations.
Days 4-5
*Using saved photographs and graphic organizer with descriptions, students will create a Glogster Edu poster. They will work in groups of two with the teacher rotating among the groups for assistance.
Day 6
*Students will attach the link of their poster to an email to their e-pal.

Reflections and Feedback
The students enjoyed exploring their town and capturing images to relate to their life. It was interesting to see how they put the tour and images together to portrait life in their town.
