Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to identify a notable woman in history.
  • Students will be able to research a woman that has made accomplishments in society.
  • Students will be able to define the type of person that the woman is/was and identify traits, mannerisms, and qualities of the notable woman.
  • Students will be able to write questions that an interviewer, such as Oprah, would ask as well as the answers that the notable woman would have based on the research that was conducted.
  • Students will be able to act like they are the notable woman (or her husband) on the "Oprah Show" as they answer the questions that the interviewer asks.

Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Students will choose a notable woman to research.
  2. Students will then find out vital information about the woman to the point that they are able to teach someone else about this woman.
  3. Students create questions and answers for such questions about the notable woman's life.
  4. Students appear on the "Oprah Show" as the notable woman or the notable woman's husband and tell the audience ( class) the story of the woman's life.

Description

In honor of Women's History Month, students will research a notable woman and become very comfortable with her and her life story. The student will compile 10-15 questions and answers about the woman as a reporter would ask them. Then, the student will share the information about the notable woman's life as they appear as the woman or her husband on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The teacher will play Oprah and ask the student the questions!

Duration

Two week period of time to be worked on in the class, but mostly outside of class. Duration of class is based on a 42-minute class period.
