Procedure
- Students will be led through the SMART Notebook presentation, which is a gradual progression from the reproductive parts of a flower and their function to the parts of a leaf.
- The students will use the notes portion of the lesson (slides 2-6) to copy down important information into their notebooks.
- After copying the information that they have received from the notes portion, the students will have the opportunity to depict the male and female reproductive parts of a flower, followed by interactive practice.
- Once the notes and practice portion of the lesson has ended, a brief video will ensue, which allows the students the opportunity to visually experience the pollination process of a flower by means of insects. Once you have logged into United Streaming, enter in the term "pollination of plants." Then scroll down until you see the video titled: "World of Nature: Spreading the Pollen." This lesson offers students many opportunities throughout the presentation to practice definitions and practice labeling parts of both a flower and a leaf.
Assessment
The students will be assessed through the interactive labeling components, as well as through a question and answering session throughout the lesson. The teacher can offer or require a written assessment or a ticket out, asking the students to recall facts that they had learned from the lesson, and one or two items that they still have questions about.
