Description
This lesson helps students to understand integers by first reviewing the basic knowledge and understanding of integers. This lesson is approached from the perspective of students who are functioning at the lowest performance level, level 1 in New York State.

Procedures
Please refer to attached SMART notebook. Students will proceed with this lesson by working independently. The teacher may assign one or two students to stand at the SMART Board to click on each page as the lesson progresses.

Assessment
Students will evaluate their class performance by grading themselves using a rubric. They will grade themselves for effort, attentiveness and staying on task for this class period. The teacher will also assess students' understanding and application of concepts and skills during the index card number line activity.
