Rank the Presidents by ECSDM
Description
In this lesson, students read brief biographies of U.S. presidents and explorers, and then decide which characteristics make a good president.
Materials
Projector, Laptop, Biography Sheets (attached), SMART Board (optional),
President BioRank the PresidentPresidential cartoonsRank the Presidents Answer Key
Objectives
Students will:
- Work cooperatively in small groups.
- Identify key characteristics of a good president.
- Judge and rank the biographies.
Activities
- As a group, you will read each biography and decide unanimously which biography would make the best president and which would make the worst president,
#1 being the best and #5 being the worst.
- Discuss why you choose this ranking for each person. Example: What quality did you like the best or the least?
- Select one person from the group to share your decisions with the class (may write on the SMART Board if available).
As a class, we will average the class rankings and discuss why this placement was chosen and who the people were.
