    3. Listen to A City Is by Norman Rosten.
    4. Understand what can be seen in an urban setting.
    5. Understand the similarities and differences between living in an urban setting versus living in a rural setting.
    6. Listen and follow directions.

    Duration

    1 - 2 class periods

    Essential Question

How are communities alike and different?

    Instructional/Environment Modifications

Room rearrangement will be made if necessary and computer access will be provided for viewing websites.

    Procedure

Read Moo in the Morning by Barbara Maitland. Discuss with students what they would expect to see in a rural setting. Also, read A City Is, by Norman Rosten. Discuss with students what they would expect to see in an urban setting. List on the board the student's suggestions (in any order).

    Reflections and Feedback

After receiving peer reviews we decided to change the following:
    1. We italicized the book titles.
    2. We added that computer access would be provided for websites.
    3. We narrowed the standards to the four that are most appropriate to the lesson.

After the lesson has been conducted the school library media specialist will meet with the teacher and evaluate the lesson. Any changes that need to be made will be implemented.

    Student Work

Students will use a Venn diagram to list the similarities and differences of living in an urban community versus living in a rural community.
