ADAC Poster Contest

(1) VA:Cr1.2.1a Use observation and exploration in preparation for making a work of art.
(1) VA:Cr2.1.1a Explore uses of materials and tools to create works of art and design.
(1) VA:Cr2.2.1a Demonstrate safe and proper procedures for using materials, tools, and equipment.

Learning Targets: 

 

I can use a variety of materials and processes to create a poster with specific guidelines.  

 

I can explore various tools and materials to explore the connection to the poster theme.  

 

I can use art materials and tools safely.

 

 

ADAC (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council) Poster Contest. Students create a poster for the ADAC Poster Competition using graphic design techniques. 

 

Specifications: 

 

Original Artwork to be made on 12” x 18” paper

 

Judging criteria: 

 

✓ Impact of Message: Spelling Counts! Also, theme should be legible and easy to read

 

✓ Integration of Theme: Drawing should relate to theme

✓ Originality and Creativity: Avoid previous years’ designs or copying ideas

 

✓ Design: Are all elements clear and easy to understand? Do they relate to each other and create a pleasing composition?



Adding lettering to an image to create an interesting composition that is easily understood by the viewer. 

 

 

Choice materials: Color Pencil, Crayon, Oil Pastel, Marker, Stencils

Assignment must include: 

 

Impact of Message: Spelling / Lettering of the theme should be legible and easy to read and drawing/artwork should relate to the theme. Originality and Creativity (Is this your idea?) Design elements are clear and easy to understand and relate to each other and create a pleasing composition.
