Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) is a research based reading program developed by Irene Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell. Fountas and Pinnell developed the small group reading instruction Guided Reading that has been implemented in the elementary classrooms. LLI is an intervention program that incorporates reading at an independent and instructional level, word work, and writing. It is a thirty minute daily lesson designed for struggling readers to help prevent reading difficulties.
