Richard
Hofstadter graduated from Fosdick-Masten Park High School in 1933.
Dr.
Hofstadter went on to become one the most infulencial historians and
intellectual minds of the 20th century. Hofstadter spent the bulk of
his career as a professor at Columbia University and was a prolific
writer. Two of his books earned Pulitzer Prizes.
In 2003 The City Honors School at Fosdick Masten Park
held the inaugural Richard Hofstadter Competition for Historical
Writing (RHCHW). The Competition is sponsored by the Hofstadter Estate,
City Honors Foundation and the CHS Parent-Teacher-Student-Community
Organization.
