Listen Carefully After you read a story to your child, ask questions to see how well he/she was listening. For example: pick out a quote and ask your child who said it.
In Your Words Choose a recipe to make together. Read the directions together. Ask your child to repeat the directions in his/her own words.
Watching TV Choose a humorous show on TV to watch with your child. Discuss what you thought was funny.
Ask About Me Have your child listen as you describe yourself - eye color, height, hair color, clothes. Have him/her describe him/herself. Discuss and compare.
Storytime Tell a story your parents or a relative told you as a child. Discuss the importance of sharing family stories. Have your child think of a story he/she would like to tell his/her children someday. |
