| Parent/Child Activity: What's So Funny? |
 |
 |
Purpose: April Fool's Day brings many jokes from children and adults, too! We can all enjoy a good laugh sometimes. However, we don't always agree on what's funny. Sometimes within families, we say or do something that someone thinks is funny, while another doesn't. This activity will help the family understand ways to enjoy each other without hurting others' feelings.
Take a few minutes with your child to …
Talk about some of the funny times you've had together. Share why they made you laugh.
Think about a time when someone in your family thought they were being funny, but really hurt your feelings.
Make a list of words family members use to describe you that make you feel good about yourself. Make a second list of words family members use that make you feel uncomfortable or badly about yourself.
Agree that each family member will use at least five of the positive words a day, when speaking with each other.
Write secret notes to each other, telling family members what you appreciate about them!
