(1) CDOS.C.3b Students who choose a career major will acquire the career-specific technical knowledge/skills necessary to progress toward gainful employment, career advancement, and success in postsecondary programs.

Chapter 7: Types of Business Ownership

Discuss the sole proprietorship llegal form. Identify the partnership legal form. Explain how the corporate form gives owners more protection from liability. List the advantages and disadvantages of a C-corporation. Describe the purpose of a Subchapter S corporation.

Chapter 8: The Legal Environment

Explain how to protect your intellectual property. Discuss the laws affecting the start-up of a business. Explain the laws that affect employees. Identify the laws that regulate trade. Discuss the tax laws that apply to a new venture. 

Chapter 9: Site Selection and Layout Planning

List the factors involved in deciding on a community in which to locate a business. Identify the factors to consider when selecting a business site. Describe the resources that can be used in finding potential business sites. Explain the stips involved in analyzing potential sites for a business and choosing between those sites. List the steps in layout planning that are common to all businesses. Describe the layout needs for each type of business. Summarize the final details of layout planning. 

Unit 3: Managing Market Strategies

Chapter 10: The Market Plan

Identify the purpose of the marketing plan. Name the five marketing strategies that make up the marketing mix. Describe the part that marketing tactics play in the marketing plan. State the importance of ongoing market research. List the factors to consider for each strategy when reviewing the marketing mix.

Chapter 11: The Price Strategy

Identify factors that affect price strategy. Symmarize the marketing objectives related to pricing. Describe the components that go into maketing price strategy decisions. Explain how to carry out a break-even analysis. Calculate markup and markup percentages. Use markdown formulas to determine sale price.  

 Chapter 12: The Promotion Strategy

Explain the role of the promotion strategy. Explain how to formulate promotional plan. Identify consideration for putting together a promotional mix. Describe the elements of a promotional mix. Determine promotional costs for a start-up business. Describe ways to implement your promotion strategy. Examine options for short-term changes in your promotionj strategy.
