Comparing Cars
Description:
In this Mathematics and English Language Arts activity, students use a newspaper to extract and collect pertinent information by finding ads for cars. After filling in a chart and finding the average price, students further analyze the data they collected and write their conclusions in paragraph form based on their findings.
Procedure:
  1. Locate the used car ads in the classified ad section of the newspaper. Select a model and year of one car.
  2. Locate three ads for the same model and year of car.
  3. Write the prices for each car in the chart below.
  4. Find the average price of each car.
